Women's Retreat

It's hard to find a better setting for a gathering of faith-filled women so close at hand as Westminster Woods.  

Women from five different congregations and from various denominations came together for a weekend of reflection and community.  

Familiar songs were sung proud and loud. Lavish food was delivered by caring hands.

Stirring thoughts were asked and fostered by La Grande pastor Laura Hudson

A portable speaker system made sure all had a chance to hear the conversation.

There were crafts with clay

People got to know one another better and enjoy a great weekend in the woods!

Art in the Woods

I've taken up woodburning this summer, as the visitors are thin right now.

This here is my first attempt:

The dog is finished!!  I've just barely started on the rabbit..

This sand hill crane is done in ink. He took awhile. Feathers can be tricky.

 With a kids watercolor set I wasn't entirely sure how I wanted to paint this fellow, so I did a test run.

Now this guy is all done. I don't have a very good picture of the final product, but here are two of the better tries.

Now it's time to get back to mowing!

Sunsets have been beautiful here. 

And I know of one snake who just got bigger.

Workshop of Wonders - Day Camp

Boy did we have fun. Building,growing,walking and imagining with God has never been so great!

107 Children  GOT IN GEAR

We made terrariums, listened to bible stories, created piles of art, had water fights, good snacks, learned dance moves and songs, and had an amazing time learning about God and those around us through summertime fun. 

La Grande Presbyterian joined in on the fun this year, and hopefully will continue to in the future.

As a group leader for 11 kids entering 1st grade next year, I didn't have much time to take pictures, but when I get some more I will put them up. 

At the end of four fun-packed days of learning and singing the campers put on a performance for their parents.

It was a great way to share what they had learned through camp and pass God's message on.

.... Also a good time to make new friends and hair choices...

Teen helpers were a huge blessing. They played with the campers and helped keep them focused.

But truth be told, fun was always in focus.

Summer Flowers

It's been wet. 

And oh the flowers. 

Coming from farm country wildflowers in such abundance are slightly shocking. They last more than one week. Now that's crazy.
